Rooted In Love - Diving Deeper

For this week's Diving Deeper, let's take a peek at what we have been learning with the KPC Kids!

"Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong." Ephesians 3:17 NLT

We learned some important things about trees with the children on Sunday. The roots of a tree go deep, deep down in the soil. Water then can travel up those roots, helping it grow. Ephesians 3:17 tells us that we are a little like trees. When Christ has his home in our hearts, we are planted in the soil of God's love and soak it up like water.

Next, we looked at (and smelled:) some celery that had been standing in a glass of blue food colouring water overnight and... the leaves were BLUE! In Jesus, we are changed like those blue celery leaves were. The love of God begins to show in our lives.

What is one way that God's love shows in our lives? Our Bible verse taught us that being rooted in God's love does not make us weak or afraid. No, no, no! Being rooted in God's love makes us STRONG.

We then took a little time to ask and listen. We prayed that Holy Spirit would help us understand by giving us a word or picture about the love God has for us. WOW! The pictures the children made in their journals as they listened were both precious and profound.

(If your child was here on Sunday, ask them about their listening and their pictures!)

Family, God loves you and wants to speak to you about his love, too. He has not turned his face away from you. He is fully engaged in connection with you. Now, because of Jesus, you are rooted in his love.

Take some time this week to ask him about that, and then listen for his answer. When it comes, write it down, draw it, sing it, journal about it, dance it out, thank him for it, and/or engage with him in a uniquely-you-kind-of-way. Most importantly, receive it! May the love of his answer give you strength.

Grace and peace to you Family in the listening!

Reflect & Respond

Discovery Bible Study (DBS) is a way for anyone, anywhere to read God's word! You can dive deeper into this week's message by doing a DBS one any one or all of these scriptures. DBS is a great tool to use for your own devotions, as a bible study with friends, or as an evangelism tool!

Prayer Prompts

  • Pray that the Good News of God's love would shine through the Body of Christ.

  • Pray for anyone who might be feeling unlovable right now. Pray that their ears are opened to hear the truth and that every lie would be silent.

  • Pray for our KPC Kids that they would have powerful and sweet encounters as they see Jesus, know Jesus and share Jesus.

  • Continue to pray that as we go through this series on 'The Wonderful Name of Jesus" we will have revelation by the Holy Spirit to understand the power & authority of the Name and how we are Powers of Attorney to it.
