The Wonderful Name of Jesus!
What a busy time of year: School is in session, combines are chugging, gardens are being harvested. In the midst of all the busyness, it is also time to kick off the fall session of church life.
This September our focus is Be The Light. Our theme is The Wonderful Name of Jesus.
Family, did you know that the Lord Jesus Christ has made you Power of Attorney to His Name.
Remember when the followers of Jesus were lamenting about His leaving?
Jesus said, "Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father." John 14:12 (bold added by me)
What works was Jesus doing while He was on earth?
He was destroying the works of the devil.
"...The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil's work."
1 John 3:8b
He was preaching the gospel, healing the sick, setting the oppressed & possessed free, raising the dead, bringing glory to the Father.
How did He do such miraculous things? As the Son of God, in both Person & Name, He had all authority!
In Sunday's sermon we learned that in the greatest demonstration of Love, Jesus laid down His life & the entity of His Name to become sin for us, to be our Substitute on the Cross and to save us.
"Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.--" John 1:12
In an explosive display of power, God the Father, by the power of the Holy Spirit, lifts Jesus' soul out of Hell, raises His body out of the Grave, and reinstates the Name of Jesus as the Name above every name. Father God resurrects the Life and the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Our Resurrected Lord says it like this,
"All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth..." Matt 28:18
Apostle Paul writes it this way,
"Therefore, God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."
Philippians 2:9-11
Jesus laid down His life and the authority of His Name, but Father God restored it to Him. The Lord Jesus Christ has ALL AUTHORITY to destroy the devil's work, preach the Gospel, forgive sins, cast out demons, heal the sick... And all the authority of His Person is vested to His Name.
You can write a cheque and sign it, pop it in the mail and the recipient can deposit it. You don't have to hand deliver your cheque to the bank because your name has the same authority as your person. You are sending your name to authorize your cheque.
Likewise, Jesus can send His Name to authorize His work.
Family, He has given us His Name. He has given us all the authority and power of His Name. We are acting Powers of Attorneys here on earth!!
In His Name, we will do the works He did while He was on earth ... even greater things according the Scriptures.

I believe that it is imperative that we understand with our hearts, the power and authority of the Name of Jesus, the Name which is above every other Name! This understanding comes as we hear and hear again the message of His Name through the Word of God as the Holy Spirit brings revelation.
This is a message for you. This is a message for your children.
