The Firm Foundation of Service: Diving Deeper
See Jesus
I think there is an important role in taking the middle ground on some issues to be a voice of reason to all involved. Mediation, if you will, is a gift that may be used and valued in many situations that we see in our world, culture, workplaces, even families. An independent, neutral third party can be a very important part of conflict resolution and actually forms the foundation of any justice system.
There is no neutral ground in the Kingdom of God. Matthew 6:24 tells us that we can only serve one master. Attempting to serve two will divide our hearts and allegiances. We will ultimately hate one and love the other, be devoted to one and despise the other.
This is important information for every follower of Jesus! I used to believe that I could step in and out of my life of faith without consequence, staying devoted to God and just resuming where we left off the last time I was with Him and serving Him. The truth of the matter, the Gospel Truth is, when I step out of intimacy with God I am allowing devotion to another to creep into my heart.
Whatever god, person, or thing I put ahead of my intimacy with God will be what receives my affection, my attention, and ultimately my service.
What is that in your life?
In my life I am usually able to identify what that is by asking this question of myself... "What is keeping me from feeling confident of God being close to me right now?" Usually there are a few things that I can identify at this point... what we do next is really important... There is no condemnation in having these things revealed, in fact it was God who graciously pointed them out to me. I have to avoid the temptation of serving the enemy here by listening to what his accusations are in the situation.
Turn to the Word of God for your next steps of instruction and service.
Romans 6:14
"For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law,but under grace."
Continue in the grace of God precious family, serving only Jesus our King, Saviour, and Lord!
