On Mission Through Hospitality: Diving Deeper
See Jesus
On Sunday we had the opportunity to watch and hear the children in our church present the Gospel message through our Children's Christmas Program. Now, we know that when you preach the Gospel the Gospel happens. So this message preached has eternal and fruitful affect! I love that Jesus loves children, he loves children so much that he tells us in his Word to be like children, this is a sure way to please God and walk in obedience, to be like children. The Word of God also tells us that Jesus came to serve and not to be served. Also in the Word I read that I am to be like Jesus, you are to be like Jesus.
During the play, Lillian reminded us that this world can tempt us to be distracted from what we are actually supposed to be doing and thinking. This world can tempt us to a "Gimme, Gimme, Gimme, Get" type of thinking.
The complete opposite of serving really. The antonym of hospitality.
"Keep on loving one another as brothers and sisters. Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it." Hebrews 13:1-2 This is the example of Jesus.
Jesus came to give to us something that we desperately needed but could never Gimme, Gimme, Gimme, Get for ourselves.
Victory over the enemy, Conquering of sin, Peace with God, Salvation
"For by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy." Hebrews 10:14
Because of Jesus perfect sacrifice, once and for all, in the true temple God remembers our sins and lawless acts NO MORE!!
Why did Jesus come? Why was he crucified? Why did he die? Because it wasn't enough for me to die alone, it wasn't enough for you to die alone. We have to die in Christ to live in Christ with Christ.
He came to serve us, to show us the most incredible divine, heavenly hospitality so that we may be saved and spend eternity with him.
He came because of his great love for you, me, and the entire world. He deposits that same love within each of us and then sends us on a mission similar to his, Go in love and love.
